The Panasonic Eneloop (model BK-3MCCE) is a new, 4th generation NiMH rechargeable battery type AA (R6) with a nominal capacity of 2000 mAh (1900 mAh minimum guaranteed) and extremely low self-discharge (1 year → 90% charge retention; 5 years → 70% charge retention) which is better than most alkaline single-use batteries. This new cell comes with even longer life expectancy: up to 2100 charge/recharge cycles and can operate at temperatures as low as -20°C.
Eneloop rechargeable batteries are very well suited for use with photography equipment and flashes in particular. Their unmatched low internal resistance and patented construction allow them to yield tremendous amounts of power in a short period of time — which is exactly what your flash wants while it recharges its capacitor!
After Panasonic acquired the assets of Sanyo Electric Co. Japan back in 2014, the Eneloop batteries now carry the Panasonic logo. This however is the only change: just like before, all new Eneloop cells are manufactured in Japan and are delivered pre-charged with clean solar energy, ready for use out of the pack.
